The two basic types of cages are those made of plastic and those made of wires. The wire cages are more durable than the plastic and typically more expensive, however the plastic cages are able to be upgraded with different fun toys for your pet, you will have to decide which would be best for you.

You will also need to get a bowl and water bottle, these can be found in any pet store for as little as $5.00 each. You will also need to get some bedding for your new cage. Pine and cedar shavings are the most common beddings and they are vary affordable, you can also get a number of different litter products if smell becomes an issue with your pet.
